Can I Put Hair Foam On Dry Hair? Care For & Style Dry Locks

Behind every gorgeous hairdo is an array of our trusty hair products. They’re the determining factor whether your hair stays in place all night long or if it falls flat before you even leave the house. But, how you apply your hair care really does matter. Can I put hair foam on dry hair? Is it too late to add styling products if my hair is dry?
We’ve got the answers to all your hairstyling Qs.

What’s The Deal With Applying Hair Products To Wet / Damp Hair?
If you’ve read the instructions on your hair care products, you’ll know that majority recommend applying the product to wet/damp hair. But does that mean soaking wet or towel-dried? And why does my hair have to be damp to apply my hair care?
If you’re applying products like a leave-in condition, or hydrating hair oil, you want your hair to be damp. That’s so the moisture-locking agent, I.E., the conditioner has moisture to seal into your hair follicles. When your hair is dry, there’s no moisture to lock in, so the product won’t be as effective.
As for how wet your hair should be when applying your hair care, it depends on your hair type!
If you have coarse, curly hair, it’s recommended that you apply your products as soon as you’ve stepped out of the shower. That way, you’ll lock in as much moisture as possible before your hair dries.
If you have finer hair, you can slightly towel dry your locks before slathering on the leave-in conditioner. But make sure you use a gentle microfiber towel on your hair to prevent frizz and breakage.
So we know moisturize-locking agents should be applied to wet/damp hair to be effective. But what about styling products like hair foam, moose, and texture sprays?

Can I Put Hair Foam On Dry Hair?
So, you forgot to apply your hair foam to damp hair, and now you’re frantically wondering, can I put hair foam on dry hair?!
Most hair foams are intended for damp hair. But, that doesn’t mean you can’t use your hair foam on dry hair when you’re in a pinch.
If you’re applying hair foam to dry hair, make sure you use it sparingly. If you overdo it, it may cause the hair to stiffen and end up crunchy.
We recommend flipping your head upside down and applying the foam to your roots to add volume. Make sure to spread it through thoroughly and avoid adding it to the ends of your hair as they’re more susceptible to looking stiff.
Alternatively, you can spritz your hair with water before applying the foam, then finish up your look by giving your hair a quick blow-dry. Be aware – more hair foam isn’t always better. Too much moose can weigh down your hair, causing it to look flat and lifeless. Less is more in this case!
